Brief Description

Ride one or both days.
Each day choose your loop from three scenic and enjoyable rides measuring 35, 62 or 100 miles. These carefully planned routes are well marked and traverse rolling back country roads with picturesque scenery and minimum traffic—and you'll cross a dam! You’ll find the Hartwell area to be some of the best bicycle riding in the Southeast, with loops varying from moderate to challenging. Each day, your choice of a different 35, 64 or 100 mile loop!

Directions

Take the Exit 177 off of Interstate I-85 (this is near the GA-SC border), and go south on Hwy. 77 which leads to Hartwell (approximately 12 miles away). In Hartwell, follow U.S. 29 East through town to Campbell Drive (the Northeast Georgia Bank will be on your left) and turn right. Go one block and turn left on Powell Road. Hart County Middle School (the ride start) is on Powell Road on the right.

Beginning and ending in Hartwell, Georgia (adjacent to beautiful Lake Hartwell and the Georgia/South Carolina border), you'll enjoy riding loops that traverse rolling back country roads with picturesque scenery and minimum traffic.

The Challenge of the Centuries is an official Bicycle Ride Across Georgia 2010 Training Ride!

On Saturday afternoon/evening, go downtown for local entertainment: Cars & Guitars car show and 2 stages of live music!

Facilities at Hartwell Middle School There are ample showers, changing rooms, restrooms, parking, camping space, and a giant gymnasium if you would prefer to camp indoors. All this within a short bicycle ride of downtown Hartwell where you'll find restaurants, hotels, stores, history and more.
