Brief Description

Enjoy a spring bike ride on beautiful country roads though picturesque Williamson County. The Red Poppy Ride benefits the SERTOMA Scholarship Program for Georgetown ISD and the Williamson County Child Advocacy Center.

With routes of 14-101 miles, this ride is suitable for beginning to advanced cyclists. Rest stops will be available at approximately 10-mile intervals and SAG vehicles will patrol the route.

T-shirts guaranteed to the first 700 pre-registered riders. Ride Jerseys will be available for order on website. Post ride activities include a free lunch for all participants. Plan to visit the Red Poppy Festival in downtown Georgetown after the Ride for food, crafts and entertainment. Ride proceeds benefit the SERTOMA Scholarship fund and the Williamson County Child Advocacy Center.

DIRECTIONS:
From I-35, take the Andice/Lake Georgetown (RM 2338 - Williams Dr.) exit #261A if coming from the south or #262 from the north. Go east on RM 2338; turn left at the light (McDonald’s is on the right) onto Austin Ave. The Annex is about a mile north on the right side of the street, immediately past Georgetown HS.

TIME:
RIDE STARTS AT 8:00 a.m. with no riders leaving after 9:00 a.m. Course closes at 4:00 p.m.

ROUTES:
Approximately 14 (Family Circle), 30, 45, 64, 75, 85 and 100 miles with START & FINISH at the Georgetown High School Annex. All routes pedal through moderately flat terrain interspersed with rolling hills on the eastern side of Williamson County. Riders must obey all traffic laws. Helmets are required. Rest Stops will be available throughout the ride. SAG vehicles will be patrolling the routes to help with mechanical troubles and to pick up riders with any problems. Friday, April 27th at the Williamson County Child Advocacy Center, 1811 SE Inner Loop from 5:00 to 7:00 PM (MAP: http://www.wilcocac.org/contact.htm) and on Saturday, April 28th at the Georgetown High School Annex, 2295 North Austin Avenue (MAP: http://www.georgetownisd.org/ghs/school/directions.htm) beginning at 6:30 AM.
