Brief Description

The Fremont Freewheelers Bicycle Club presents its annual Women's Training Series: January 19 - March 30, 2013. First Meeting Location - The Bicycle Garage - 5006 Mowry Ave - Fremont, CA 94538.

Train for a 100k or 100 mile ride

Our training is focused on teaching women to safely ride a bicycle in a group setting and develop the skills needed to successfully complete the Cinderella Classic or Challenge rides or any other metric or full century.

Build your skills and endurance

Each ride will build on the skills and strength you learned the week prior, getting progressively longer and more challenging as the training series continues. You will ride in groups consisting of 15-20 riders with a minimum of two ride leaders per group. Build strength, endurance, confidence, team riding, and mechanical skills with encouragement and technical tips from other women!

Training details

The first training consists of an ORIENTATION and a BIKE RODEO (attendance is mandatory!) followed by TEN SATURDAY RIDES.

Which series is right for me?

This training is for all levels, from beginning to advanced riders. The Classic Training group is right for you if you are comfortable on your bike, can ride 10 miles, and are eager to learn how to ride on the road and in a group. By the end of this series you will be ready to tackle the 100k option of the Valley Spokesman Cinderella Century.

Am I a challenge rider?

The Cinderella Challenge series is right for you if you like riding, are in shape to ride 35 miles in about 3 hours, and want to gain group riding skills. There will be two pace groups (slower and faster) to be determined within the first few rides. By the end of this series you will be ready to tackle the 100 mile option of the Valley Spokesman Cinderella Century or one of the many other Bay Area spring centrury rides.

Do I want to climb hills?

Intermediate/advanced rider who is looking for some extra climbing. Similar amount of climbing as in the Challenge group, but with weekly mileage closer to the Classic groups. Pace on flats will start at 10-15 mph and increase as the series progresses. There will be two pace groups (slower and faster) to be determined within the first few rides. This is a great choice for riders who are considering a hilly metric later in the spring, or a move to the Challenge group in 2014.
