Brief Description

Join Wool E. Bull on Sat., July 10 for the Cree Habitat Bull Moon Ride benefiting Habitat of Durham and sponsored by Cree. This 18-mile (or 10-mile) ride for cyclists of all abilities starts at 8 PM at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. Meander past the sights and sounds of downtown Durham and return on the American Tobacco Trail to a celebration at the ballpark. Safety support provided by The Durham County Sheriff’s Office. Helmets, tail lights and headlights required.

CREE HABITAT BULL MOON RIDE DETAILS

  • $30 pre-registration per adult; $15 per child under 18 (min. age is 10).
  • $35 walk-on registration per adult; $20 per child under 18 (min. age is 10).
  • All pre-registered riders receive a FREE t-shirt at event check-in. Riders must be present at event to receive t-shirt.
  • Rider check-in and walk-on registration opens at 6:30 PM at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park (DBAP). Directions to the DBAP.
  • All riders must be registered and must check-in to receive rider ID.
  • Participants are strongtly encouraged to have their bicycle inspected. Contact The Bicycle Chain for FREE safety inspections.
  • All cyclists will depart at 8:00 PM sharp.
  • Cyclists under 18 must be accompanied by an adult during the ride.
  • Helmets, tail lights and headlights required. For light ideas contact Jeanette at (919) 886-0001. Lights will NOT be sold at the event. Participants are required to purchase lights before the event.
  • Preview the 18-mile route.
  • Preview the 10-mile route option.
  • 12 mph average rolling speed.The ride routes were not designed for speed but instead for leisure. Riders are encouraged to meander through the sights and sounds of Durham.
  • Safety support provided by Durham County Sheriff's Office.
  • Change for 2010: There will be NO regrouping stops or Sheriff escort through intersections. Riders MUST obey the rules of the road at all times. Sheriff will be present at key intersections to provide traffic direction and ensure safety of both riders and drivers.
  • Pit stop with water and refreshments.
  • Post ride party with live music and refreshments.

    The Cree Habitat Bull Moon Ride is a fund-raising ride. Although donations are not required, contributions help Habitat build a home for a family in Durham. When you register, pledge to make and/or collect donations and receive the following prizes. For each donation, you sponsor a part of a Habitat home and help make the dream of home ownership a reality for a family in Durham.
  • Donate/collect $25 (or more) to receive commemorative cycling socks.
  • Donate/collect $100 (or more) to receive commemorative cycling socks and a long sleeve T-shirt.
  • Donate/collect $500 (or more) to receive commemorative cycling socks, a long sleeve T-shirt and your choice of a jersey OR four MVP Club passes to a Durham Bulls game. At the $500 level you become a member of the Silver Hammer Club with special VIP registration at event check in.

    SAFETY INFORMATION
    All roads are open to regular traffic. Please be courteous, stop at all stop signs and stop lights, and obey all traffic laws. This is a city ride, please be aware of potholes, manhole covers, stormwater grates, and parked vehicles. The American Tobacco Trail is dark. Please turn head and tail lights to highest setting and don’t forget to communicate obstructions and movements with fellow cyclists.

    ANSI, ASTM, CPSC or Snell certified helmets are mandatory for all riders. Tail and head lights are required. Riders are responsible for keeping their bicycles in safe working condition. Minors under the age of 18 must ride with a parent or guardian. Please carry a spare tube, patch kit, pump and water bottle. Participants are strongtly encouraged to have their bicycle inspected.   • The spooktacular seventh-annual Cree Halloween Bike Ride benefits Habitat for Humanity of Durham and is sponsored by Cree. Experience scenic views of Durham County as you ride 18, 31, 62, or 100 miles. Gear up for a ghoulish good time and compete for best costume!
