Brief Description

Join 1000 cyclists riding up Mount Diablo in the Bay Area's most exciting cycling event! This event benefits Save Mount Diablo's land conservation programs.

Waves

Wave 1 and 2 CLOSED. Women's Wave, Wave 4 (between 70 and 80 minutes) and Wave 5 (more than 80 minutes) are OPEN

Registration

NO DAY OF REGISTRATIONS. NO TRANSFERS. Time-chip pick up on event day begins at 7:00 am and closes promptly at 8:15 am. Please be on time. The starting gun is fired at 8:30 am.

In Case of Rain

Heavy rain may cancel the event. No refunds will be issued – your registration fee will become a full donation to help Save Mount Diablo’s land preservation work.

Ride Course

This is a 11.2 mile timed bicycle road ride, elevation gain 3,249 feet. The ride starts at the Athenian School in Danville, climbs up Southgate Road to the summit of Mount Diablo. The State Park will be closed to all outside traffic for the duration of the event. Sag support provided. No follow cars allowed.

Ride Participants

Riders of all ages are welcome. Riders under 18 must be accompanied by an adult rider. (Please visit our website www.savemountdiablo.org to register underage riders.) Competition may be entered on any non-motorized bicycle, including tandems, uni-cycles and hand powered vehicles.

Prizes and Awards

Riders reaching the summit in less than 1 hour will receive a special "One Hour" T-shirt. Prizes for the top finishers, male and female, in the following age divisions: 9-12, 13-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+; overall top finishers, male and female, on road bike, mountain bike, unicycle, tandem; best team time; team that raised the most funds for Save Mount Diablo.

T-shirts

YOU MUST BE REGISTERED BY NOON ON 9/17/2012 TO QUALIFY FOR A SHIRT. T-shirts will only be available for donations of $20 or more to Save Mount Diablo's land preservation programs. Eliminating sales allows more money to go directly to the cause.

What to bring

Your (ANSI approved) bike helmet and your official event number. What NOT to bring: your car. Parking is at Monte Vista High School and is limited, please carpool or ride your bike to the event.

Additional Information

ELECTRONIC TIMING AND START IN WAVES Each participant will receive an ankle bracelet with a chip, which will record their individual finish time. The start will be in five waves, Wave 1 will be the first to start. This year, we are again offering a Women Only Wave. Need more time - request a different wave, see registration form. PLEASE NOTE: Reasonable accomodations will be made to honor all wave requests but waves will fill up. Register early!
