Our registration pickup and ride headquarters for the 2010 Mountains of Misery will be the Inn at Virginia Tech. The Inn at Virginia Tech is offering cyclists a rate of 89.95 + tax per night. Please call 540-231-8000 or 877-200-3360 for reservation and mention Mountains of Misery.

Mountains of Misery Information

Are you ready to climb? The 2010 Mountains of Misery Ride (thirteen year anniversary!) takes place on Sunday, May 30th. It features a challenging Century and a quad searing Double Metric (200 kilometers/ 125 miles). The Challenge Century (100 miles) has nearly 10,000 feet of climbing. The double metric over 13,000 feet. Don't worry, or maybe worry- both routes still end with the climb up to beautiful Mountain Lake, a five-kilometer category 1 climb, 11.9%. LIMITED to 500 riders.

IMPORTANT!

Entry fees (late entry fee) jump significantly after May 16th, 2010. MoM goes from $65 to $95.

Wilderness Road Ride

Wilderness Road Ride will happen but is being run by a new group with guidance from the NRVBA. Information will be posted soon on how to register for WRR. The NRVBA can now put even more energy and focus on Mountains of Misery.

Registration and Pasta Information

Mountains of Misery is limited to 500 riders. If there are still openings you may register at registration and packet pick-up. The pasta dinner this year will be located at the Inn at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg.

Saturday Schedule of Events

(5/29/10) 3:00-8:00 PM: MoM packet pickup/ registration at the Inn at VT. 5:00pm-7:00pm: 2010 CDH Pasta Dinner 7:00pm Free MoM information session to follow pasta dinner at the Inn at Virginia Tech. Pasta dinner held at the Inn at VT in Blacksburg.

Sunday Schedule of Events

(05/30/10) 6:00-6:45 AM registration/ packet pickup at Newport (MoM start) - honor system 7:00am: Mountains of Misery start. Start is in waves by those first at the start area. Waves go off every two minutes. There are 40-60 riders per wave. By 7:16 all riders have generally started.

Directions to start of Mountains of Misery

Directions to Newport Staging Area: From Blacksburg drive 7-8 miles on US 460 West, turn right on US 42 exit to Newport (past large double yellow caution signs), drive .8 miles to Newport Rec Center, parking on right. Additional parking available a quarter mile further on US 42 at Newport ballfield and picnic area on the right.
