Tour de Tow

2 Days of Polk County Bike Racing, kicks off with the Tour de Tow on Saturday, September 18th, 2010. The Tour de Tow is an on-road cycling tour along the scenic back roads of southern Polk County. After you cross the finish, relax as we give you a yummy lunch and watch the Florida Cup Race Criterium on Main Street. Racing will be going on for this exciting Cup Series into the night. Come participate and celebrate a day of riding and racing in beautiful Bartow! This is going to be SUPER COOL!

Tow Fees

Choose from a Family Fun Ride of 16 miles for $15.00 37 Mile TowTour $30.00 and 65 Mile TowTour $35.00 TANDEM RIDERS we'd love to have you too. Just add 15.00 for extra rider.

Staging Area

This year we will be staging the ride on Central between Main and Summerlin. We will be keeping Central clear of cars and parking but there is plenty of parking on Central between Summerlin and Parker and at the Oaks Parking Lot which is right next to the Post Office which is on Summerlin and Central. Since we are doubling up with Florida's Cup Race our start will be at Main and Central heading west.

Cool Stuff

This is one of my favorite parts trying to dig up some cool stuff for all you awesome riders. So, of course you will all get a "goodie bag" stuffed with a finisher T-Shirt, Cool Down Towel, Meal Ticket, Map of Route and whatever else I can come up with. There will be a CHANCE drawing again this year for an original stylized portrait of the winner. This is so COOL!

If you haven't seen a bike RACE you'll want to stay and see this exciting event. Kurt Phillips with Citrus Sports contacted me last fall for this criterium to be in Bartow and it blew my socks off. Racers made a 1/4 mile loop down Main Street every 30 seconds. Racers come from all over the country to compete for cash and points in this series. This year will be a big because it is a Florida Cup race. There are only 6 cup races in the state and this will be one of them.

POWER PEDALERS

Will be giving away new bikes again to kids who other wise wouldn't be able to afford one. The POWER PEDALERS are the kids who will have a huge smile on their faces as we present them their new bikes. If you know of any one or company out there who would like to be a sponsor please let me know. The more money we have the more bikes we give away. At the Bloomin Bike Ride we gave away 8 bikes. Now that is COOL!

SAG Support - Yes!

Ride Support! Yes, every route has a SAG vehicle following to be there in case you need us. It will have drinks, snacks, tubes and a pump. Everyone will receive a ride map that will have a number on it for emergencies or problems.

Food!!!

Absolutely! I love trying to get you guys the best food from some of my favorite restaurants here in Bartow. You will have plenty to eat to help you recover from your ride.
