Brief Description

Start to the RT of Sewee Outpost, large field near the intersection of SeeWee Rd and Hwy 17 N, next door to SeeWee outpost. All routes begin at 8:30, on Saturday March 20, 2010.Support-SAG vehicles along the route begin at 9:00. The start and end are in the same location, Rest stops will be each at 5, 15, 30, & 45. Island Coffee will provide their awesome products and Wholly Cow will provide ice cream.

 

Start times:

All routes begin at 8:30 on the March 20, you can start earlier. The walk up registration will open at 7:45.

General route:

Head out SeWee road towards Awendaw, a short stop at the boat landing and then over to Doar Rd, cross hwy 17 to Steed Creek, Rt on Half Way Creek, and then back.

The shorter routes will turn around earlier and head back. Rest stops will be set up at 15,30,&45 miles, except there will be one at the 5 mile mark for new riders and first timers (5 m. will close earlie r& not be open on way back for longer routes)

 

Ride Information:

Entry fee includes rest stops, support, and tastes of Wholly Cow Ice Cream and Island Coffee as well as cool treats provided by local resturants at rest stops.

Route is on paved roads open to traffic. Helmets required. Riders must obey SC LAWS. Signature of release of liability required before start and to participant in organized event.

Cell Coverage: Stay on Route

There is very limited cell coverage around the Francis Marion National Forrest. We will have Support vehicles on the route. If you leave the route, because you think you have a short cut, you likely will have no cell coverage and no way to contact us. STAY ON THE ROUTE

The route will be marked with a white circle and a green tail to direct you in the direction you should ride. There will be marks before and after each turn. There will be feel good marks every three miles.

 

Highlights and Special Happenings:

Wholly Cow Ice Cream eating contest will be at 12:00, sign up by 11:45. Prizes awarded for adults and children

Parrot Head Club with happy faces will man the rest stops

Sports massage, carpal tunnel screening, and other health testing will be offered compliments of Total Life Chiropractic. Try Sports and Trek Bikes will be on hand for repair and consultation.

 

Go green - no paper

Double Dip only sends email confirmations and all communication is by email. Be sure when you sign up that you use an email address that you check. All of our email confirmations and notices will come from Santa@FestiVELO.org

Double Dip will provide GPS corrected cue sheets, but that is the only paper we will print other than the release of liability.

 

Rest Stops:

For the Family FUN ride there will be one rest stop before the turn around at about 5 miles.

For the longer routes there will be rest stops about every 15 miles.

Water, sports drink mixed as directions stipulate, carbs, fruit, and other unique treats.

 

Free Massages and other services

Dr. Stephanie Latter, DC of Total Life Care and staff will be on hand to give sports massages for participants (sign up sheet when you arrive at Wholly Cow). Total Life Care will also provide body fat analysis, blood pressure testing and carpal tunnel screenings.
