Brief Description

A premier cycling tour with choices of routes up to 100 miles starting and finishing on Amelia Island, in Northeast Florida. We ride for the well-being of others, for our own health...and for YOU!

About the Event

The Katie Caples Foundation will host its fifth donor awareness bicycling event called the Katie Ride For Life on Saturday, April 18, 2009, starting in Fernandina Beach, Florida. The one-day ride will feature the 100-mile Century Ride, as well as a 100km ride for avid cyclists and a choice of 60km or 30km ride for recreational enthusiasts of all ages. HELMETS MUST BE WORN BY ALL RIDERS.

Why we Ride

Eliminate a need for Donor Waiting Lists. There are over 98,000 Americans currently on the national organ transplant waiting list. Over 3,000 are listed at transplant centers right here in Florida. Any one of us could start a new day only to find that we have been diagnosed with an illness in which our only lifeline is an organ transplant. Every 13 minutes a new name is added to the waiting list and every 90 minutes someone dies for lack of a donor organ.

Cont.

The Katie Ride for Life is a cycling event in which novices to serious riders may participate to raise funds to provide organ donor education and increase donor commitment. It is a great opportunity to make a difference.

Cont.

The Katie Ride for Life will raise funds to increase awareness of the importance of organ and tissue donation and encourage Floridians to make a positive decision about donation.

Try the 30km (18 miles), 60km (36 miles), 100km (62 miles), or the all-out 100-mile Centurty Ride -- each on paved roads along some of North Florida's beautiful coastline.
