Great directors know how to manipulate the audience emotions with the right combination of camera work, light, editing and music. Learn the basic techniques and language of film and video production with a practical approach that will give you a skill that you can use for life. Students who participate in the program will need the following: 1. a camera (iPhone, iPod, iPad, DSLR, or a video camera.) 2. cable to connect the camera to a USB port on an iMac. Day 1. Shot Sizes Who and what we see - Close Up, Extreme Close Up, Medium Shot (Two Shot, Over the Shoulder), Wide/Long Shot Day 2. Camera Angles How we perceive what we see - POV, High-Angle, Low-Angle, Dutch Day 3. Camera Movements Pan, Tilt, Dolly, Track, Pedestal, Zoom, Dolly Counter Zoom Day 4. The rule of thirds and the 180-degree rule. Day 5. Light temperature and how to use and not use the sun as a light source. Day 6. Downloading your material. Day 7. Simple editing tools. Day 8. ST.
