What's Included

We are excited to offer this unique new program taught by our own k-2 music teacher, Ms. Joy Lakin. This 45 minute class will offer an entry-level overview of the rich history and and repertoire associated with the ukulele. Students will be introduced to beginning ukulele techniques including strum patterns, chords, diverse repertoire, and creative exploration of songwriting. Get ready for a comprehensive overview of the ukulele fused with fundamental musical skills and a whole lot of fun along the way! (A class set of ukulele’s will be provided for in-class use) Joy recently graduated with a Bachelor of Music Education with an emphasis in Classical Voice from the University of Miami this past Spring 2016. She is ecstatic to have the opportunity to foster a a passion and appreciation for music in her future St. Philip's students!
