What's Included

Rock Climbing-201 is where you will learn the joy of Sport Climbing. Sport Climbing are climbs that are protected exclusively with fixed protection. We take a weekend to learn the ins and outs of setting up and managing outdoor sport routes, including leading, belaying, cleaning, rappelling, risk assessment and falling.

Sport climbing can be a lot of fun, and with diligence, you can progress quickly as a sport climber. We will cover Sport Climbing hazards, climbing the route, lowering from the route, belaying a sport route, bailing from a sport route, and climbing style.

Prerequisites: you must know how to belay, have a basic knowledge of climbing and be able to comfortably and cleanly climb 5.10a routes. Rock Climbing-201 is a must for all climbers who want to progress into a confident, competent sport climber on bolt protected routes.

This is a 2-day weekend course with the opportunity to overnight camp. We will be in the Wild and Scenic Obed rock climbing zone in Morgan County.

In Climbing-201 you will get some serious mileage on the cliffs. We'll provide a variety of climbs on different terrain to challenge you. You will experience pitches of different character and difficulty.

Rock Climbing 201 curriculum includes:

• Quick review of climbing knots
• The Sport Climbing Rack
• Sport climbing anchor theory and practice
• The Sport Climber Belayer’s Job
• Quickdraw alignment and avoiding dangerous carabiner orientations
