This "athletes first, winning second" coed basketball league is for boys and girls ages 9-14. The Meadowbrook Basketball League (MBL) provides a "Good Sports" atmosphere, bringing together families and aspiring players in an effort to learn and practice the fundamentals of the game. Our certified parent-coaches provide a quality recreation environment for our players, parents, coaches and spectators. The spring league consists of two weeks of practice followed by six league games and a single elimination playoff for a total of nine weeks. Weekly practices are scheduled on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays at the Meadowbrook Athletic Complex (MAC) or North Laurel Community Center depending on team placement and coach's availability. Games are one hour, played on Fridays, starting between 6-9 PM at the MAC. Weekly practices build the skills base for your son or daughter to grow in the sport of basketball. Specific details on game/practice times are communicated after each season's skills assessment. Players are placed on teams after a skills assessment (April 9-12) and play a single game per week while practicing one weeknight in addition to league games. The MBL is for novice to experienced players who wish to learn while playing in a recreational atmosphere. See concussion information online at www.howardcountymd.gov/concussion.htm.
