Learn about the fascinating history of the little-know historical genre of Spirit Photography, which was popular in America during late 1800’s. Then learn how to make your own ‘spirit photographs’ in-camera using long exposures, light painting and multiple flashes. This class is a fun and engaging way to learn more about creatively controlling your digital SLR camera! Required Materials: Digital SLR with Manual Exposure Controls & Laptop Computer with basic photo editing software Tripod (optional) Shutter Release Cable (option) Off-camera flash (optional) Flash lights and/or other hand held light sources About the instructor: Stephen is a freelance photographer and part-time photography instructor at the Ohio State University with a particular passion for photographic history. The Columbus Idea Foundry is Ohio’s largest community workshop, maker space, and learning center.  We offer variety of conventional and high tech tools: wood shop, metal smithing and foundry, laser cutter & engraver, CNC ShopBot, electronics, jewelry, warm glass, photography, and more.
