What's Included

Come learn the basics of Carving a mold then casting metal in it! Get hands on experience and dirty hands! We will be carving small items in plaster blanks supplied by the instructor, and you will get to take something home with you! Students will get the basics of mould carving. Tools and terms will be discussed, basic carving tools will be provided. Students will learn about 'draft' and parting lines. I will go over the basic parts of a carved mould and demonstrate the steps in making one. After that students will get to make their own moulds. Safety around the foundry will be discussed and enforced. I will light the foundry and the metal to be cast will be discussed. Once the mould is carved, I will pour the melted metal. After cool down, the castings will be taken out and cleaned up. Close toe shoes and long pants required, Long sleeve shirts recommended.
