This camp is specifically designed for kids 7-14 years old who want learn how to do a kids triathlon. Kids will learn everything they need to know to complete a KIDS Triathlon and have FUN doing it! Bring a parent and learn how to swim around buoys, transition between events, safety on the bike, and how to pace your energy to finish a Kids triathlon! Have fun using what you’ve learned in a practice triathlon.
Kids will learn how to sight and swim around buoys, how to set up a transition area, how to transition from the swim to bike and the bike to run, bike handling and safety, running tips, triathlon rules and regulations, and how to pace their energy to finish a KIDS TRIATHLON.
Practice Triathlon Details
Kids will practice how to do a KIDS TRIATHLON in a non-competitive event. Kids ages 7-10 may have one parent accompany them on the bike. The swim is open water simulated in a pool with buoys, the bike is a 2 mile loop on neighborhood roads, and the run is on sidewalks/paths/and grass.
Practice Triathlon Distances ages 7-8
~25 yd swim - 2 mile bike- .5 mile run
Distances ages 9-10
~50 yd swim - 2 mile bike - .5 mile run
Distances ages 11-14
~100 yd swim - 4 mile bike - 1 mile run
What to Bring
A parent, photo ID, CA membership card, USAT membership card (or purchase $10 one-day membership), swimming suit, goggles, hair ties for long hair, towels, bike in good working order, bike helmet, shorts and top to bike and run, shoes to bike and run, hat or visor, sunscreen, and a water bottle filled with water.
A parent must be present for the entire camp and practice triathlon. Kids must be turning 7 years old in 2013 to participate or younger with special permission from Coach Liz (email@example.com) Post-event refreshments and give-a-ways will follow the practice triathlon. All participants receive swim cap, race belt, Slack Laces by Yankz, and t-shirt.
Inclement Weather Policy
This event will be held rain or shine. In case of extreme weather conditions, such as thunderstorms or unsafe swimming conditions as determined by the event organizers and/or officials, the event will be modified or cancelled. No Refunds.
CA member: $40.00; CA non-member: $50.00; Siblings receive a $5.00 discount. Price increases by $10.00 after July 1, 2013.
