The Ellicott City Patriots are again offering competitive indoor tackle youth football in Spring 2014. The program is operated by the Maryland Youth Football program/National Gridiron League. Howard County Recreation and Parks pay to enter teams into that league. All game policies will be dictated by the National Gridiron league rules. No weight restrictions. Teams are formed by coaches. Players will be placed on teams based on lowest age group for which they are eligible. Program reserves the right to move registered players without notice to different sections, according to ability and age. Age determination date is August 1, 2013. Practice is weekends and weekday evenings beginning in late Feb, with games beginning the first week of April. Practice time will be at the team coaches discretion but normally do not exceed 6 hours per week. Due to limited practice facilities, all teams may not practice the same day/time/location. Practices will be held outside at local fields, especially before games begin but may be held indoors when available. Specific information will be provided by coaches. Games will be played every week, mostly on weekends, including Sundays, but may vary depending on inclement weather and number of teams. Games will be at various indoor facilities throughout Maryland including Soccerdome Howard County Jessup and Harmans, Rockville, and Frederick, with possibilities of games at the Carroll Indoor Sports Center , or Freestate Sports Arena in White Marsh. Prompt drop off and pickup of your child/children at recreational programs is mandatory. Above information is subject to changes based on changes to the National Gridirons 2014 league rules.
Each player must provide practice jersey and pants, colored mouth guard, chin strap, shoes and athletic supporter. A signed medical release form from a doctor; the physical must have taken place after March 15, 2013, and a Maryland State ID Card is required. An equipment deposit check ($250) will be required at equipment check-out, which is planned for Saturday, Feb 22 from 10am-noon.
