About This Activity

The Spring Backyard Burn Series consists of five 5-mile and 10-mile trail running races in different Northern Virginia parks. A point system adding competitor's five-race point totals will be used to determine the top finishers within each age group.

Dates &
Locations

3/3/13 - Hemlock Overlook, Clifton, VA
3/10/13 - Wakefield Park, Annandale, VA
4/7/13 - Prince William Forest Park, Triangle, VA
4/21/13 - Laurel Hill, Lorton, VA
5/5/13 - Fountainhead Regional Park, Fairfax Station, VA

Courses

All the courses consist of a mixture of forested fire roads, twisty hiking trails, stream crossings, grassy fields, and minimal pavement. Prince William FP, Fountainhead, and Hemlock have a true wilderness feel yet are just 30 minutes from DC. Wakefield has some of the best trails around and the location just off the beltway is very convenient. Laurel Hill is the newest addition to the Spring BYB series and includes plenty of forested single-track and beautiful open meadow running.
