What's Included

A cyclone transports Dorothy, a young Kansas girl, and her dog, Toto, to magical Munchkin Land. Unfortunately, they land right on top of the Wicked Witch of the East -- not a good thing! As Dorothy and Toto head down the Yellow Brick Road to find the Wizard and their way back home to Kansas, they meet new friends, each with a wish that they hope The Great Oz can grant for them. A scrawny Scarecrow needs a brain, a rusty Tin Man needs a heart, and a Cowardly Lion needs courage. If you choose to pay by credit card, you will be charged a convenience fee of 2.95% on your first item only.

About This Organizer

In 1924, the Junior League of Cincinnati developed a plan to introduce children in Cincinnati to the magic of theater. They created the Junior League Players, now known as The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati. The Children’s Theatre was incorporated as a non-profit organization in 1947 and over the years evolved into a professional theater company.

The Mission of The Children's Theatre of Cincinnati:

To educate, entertain and engage audiences of all ages through professional theatrical productions and arts education programming.

Arts Programming

Today, the Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati brings art to life for children and the young-at-heart through three key programs: MainStage at the Taft, TCT on Tour (formerly ArtReach), and the TCT Academy.

Our MainStage at the Taft series, performed in downtown Cincinnati includes daytime performances for school audiences and weekend performances for the public. Geared toward children ages 4-12, these family-friendly one-hour professional productions feature music, drama, visual arts and dance as a means of introducing children to the magic of the performing arts.

TCT On Tour (formerly ArtReach) brings the magic of live theater directly to those who would otherwise be unable to enjoy it. We tour five to six productions each season, serving children of all ages (kindergarten through high school) with titles taken from classic literature, fairy tales, history and other works studied in school curriculums. The acting troupe travels with innovative sets, which are designed to be both portable and visually enticing. TCT On Tour prides itself on productions that are both educational and entertaining, as well as being affordable for schools and other venues across the United States.

TCT On Tour also includes the WorkShop division, which takes a teaching artist directly into individual classrooms or after school programs, for a more intimate arts integration experience with children from Pre-K through 16 years of age. Many of the workshops we offer examine contemporary concerns through the introduction of historical figures, such as Harriet Tubman, Martin Luther King and Langston Hughes; while other workshops bring social topics such as healthy eating, self-esteem and bullying, to life through theater, music, writing, and role-playing. The main benefit of our WorkShops is to give an individual voice to children who have not previously had the opportunity to express themselves in a public creative forum.

The TCT Academy offers arts training to children in a variety of formats. The primary objective for these arts integrated classes is to provide students with the tools necessary to become successful adults. Whether the students continue in an arts field or choose a different career path, the skills they develop in these programs can be leveraged and will last a lifetime.

·         TCT Academy Classes are 8-week or 12-week sessions of drama, vocal music, and dance classes for students at all levels of ability and interest at our facility in Madisonville. Our professional staff teaches children 3-18 years old the techniques and principals behind the art of musical theater.

·         STAR Intensive NKU program is a four-week training program for students, ages 9-18. Students are accepted by audition only and will be taught by experts in the various disciplines of Musical Theatre on the campus of Northern Kentucky University, from 10 AM to 4 PM each weekday.

·         STAR Camp Red Bank (formerly known as stARTs) is our program for gifted and talented students who are advanced in some areas of musical theatre and who have progressed beyond the basic levels of training.  For three weeks in June, a select number of students will work with leading professionals in the theater business to help them improve and become well-rounded performers in all areas of musical theatre.
