Individuals with a passion for both cycling and poker are invited to participate in the Cycle EastLake 18 Mile Mountain Bike & Poker Ride! At five points along the course, cycling card sharks will have an opportunity to collect their aces, kings and queens to see who will cash in with the best hand at the finish line at Otay Ranch Town Center. A sixth, bonus card will be handed out at the finish line followed by an awards (and prize!) ceremony.
100K Cycle Experienced cyclist and skaters are challenged with scenic views of the Eastlake area and neighboring hills to the east. Riding over the bridge on Hwy 125 in both directions, viewing the expanse of the countryside to the east and west of the bridge, looping past Southwestern college, the Olympic Training Center and out past Otay Lakes to the intense 7 mile climb up beautiful Honey Springs Rd. 25 Mile CycleFollows the 100K route before curving away from the steep incline in favor of long, slow hills and smooth, flat roads to even things out.
EastLake Half MarathonThe Inaugural Eastlake Half Marathon showcases some of the Gems of the Chula Vista Park District, our exceptional mountain and lakeside views and well-maintained, low-traffic running trails. Since this is the first year we are limiting it to the first 100 participants. Proceeding from Otay Ranch Town Center, the course runs along Eastlake Parkway on trails to Hunte Parkway, past High Tech High and K-12, down Olympic Parkway past the Olympic Training Center,and over to Mountain Hawk Park where our aid station and restrooms are located. From there, you will experience views of Otay Reservoir, where Olympians train, the Jamul and Otay Mountains and Mount Miguel. Next, you will enter Salt Creek Park where our next aid station awaits you. Crossing over Otay Lakes Road, you will traverse the trail along Upper Otay Reservoir with more mountain and lake views. After reaching Montevalle Park, where our next aid station and restroom stop is located, you will run past East Lake Middle School, resume the trail above Salt Creek Elementary School, pass the fire station and return to Salt Creek Park and our our aid station before taking the return route through the park to Olympic Parkway. From Olympic Parkway, you will run mostly downhill to Hunte Parkway and resume the path back to the Start at Otay Ranch Town Center where the finish line celebration awaits you.
All registered participants will receive a commemorative Cycle EastLake! event t-shirt and refreshments at the finish line.
Cycle EastLake! is a participatory event, not a timed race. Bike helmets are required and bike checks are recommended. Please be safe and obey all traffic signals. Only bicycles and rollerskates/blades are allowed for the 100K, 25 Mile and Mountain Bike & Poker Tour events.
Cycle EastLake! is one of the EastLake Educational Foundation s three main fundraising events. EEF, established in 1995, is a 501(C)3 non-profit foundation that raises money to support technology initiatives and promote educational opportunities in the six public schools within the EastLake community.
