Chickamauga Chase History
This will be the forty-fifth running of The Chickamauga Chase. It has been held since 1968 in the historic and beautiful Chickamauga & Chattanooga National Military Park. The Chickamauga Chase is Chattanooga's oldest continuously run road race, and the signature event 15K is one of America's oldest races at that distance.
Establishment of the National Military Park
2013 marks the 150th anniversary of the historical battle that took place in the Chickamauga & Chattanooga National Military Park where the Confederate victory gave new hope to the South. Soon Chattanooga fell setting the stage for the capture of Atlanta, Sherman's March to the Sea and the resolution of the long war. The Chickamauga & Chattanooga National Military Park became the first of America's great national military parks established to commemorate the heroism of both the North and South
The Chickamauga Chase is the kickoff for the Sesquicentennial Commemoration of the Battles for Chickamauga & Chattanooga. The Chickamauga Chase is offering its participants an opportunity to help show their support for this historic venue by presenting the Sesquicentenial Entrant. One hundred percent of the $150 entry fee will be donated to the Friends of the Park.
Benefits of Sesquicentennial Entrant
The Chickamauga Chase will provide each Sesquicentennial Entrant a free entry to the event of their choice, two t-shirts (cotton or tech), an embroidered Chase cap (tech or ball cap), membership in the Friends of the Park, membership in the Chattanooga Track Club for 2013 and a guided tour of the battlefield by National Park Service ranger and historian, Jack Odgen, during Chase weekend. However, the key benefit is knowing that your donation is economically aiding one of our national treasures.

Help the Friends of the Park
The Chickamauga & Chattanooga National Military Park was established in 1896 as the first national military park to commemorate the events and sacrifices of one of the bloodiest and most strategic battles of the Civil War. Please help us to preserve the heritage of the Park by supporting the Friends of the Park with an additional donation to this not-for-profit organization. Proceeds from The Chickamauga Chase will benefit the Friends of the Park.
