You may know how to act, but do you know how to not act? You are invited to attend this free workshop introduction to No Acting Please the Beyond the Method/Experiential Acting System created by actor, director, best selling author and master teacher Eric Morris. This complete system, at times called controversial, is a two part, method-based system that goes “beyond the method” by dealing with the actor’s instrument as well as a very specific approach to the craft, giving the actor the tools to become self-reliant and “experience personal reality” rather than “act.” This is a unique opportunity where attendees can volunteer to participate to work in one or both parts of the system, their instrument and/or their craft. The first part, that of their instrument – getting insight and guidance in identifying and antidotal exercises to deal with impressive and expressive obstacles of the actor that prevent “being.” These include such as feeling on the spot, tension, insecurities, fears, blocks, obstacles and compensational behaviors. The second part, that of the craft, will include an in-depth explanation of Eric’s specific approach to the craft including the 7 obligations, choices and choice approaches including mega approaches. Eric’s work is taught in colleges, universities and acting schools around the world. Now, it is coming to the Vagabond School of the Arts and Chicago by Adam Christopher Veasman who has been given a unique endorsement by Eric Morris to introduce the Experiential Acting method based system here in Chicago. Come to the free introduction. See how you can bring your most authentic self to your work by going “beyond the method.” NOTE: To get the most out of the introduction, attendees are encouraged to dress comfortably and though not required, have a monologue (or 8 to 10 lines of one) that they are familiar with.
