This course focuses on helping you find your comedic voice. Writing exercises will force you to examine your own life experiences and begin to cultivate your unique point-of-view. We’ll examine what makes you unique, and what you are truly passionate about. This course emphasizes taking risks. It’s okay to fail, but it is not okay to give up. By taking this course, we assume you’re interested in pursuing stand-up, at-least long enough to determine whether or not the art-form is for you. We will amp up the outside work requirements during this course. Each week, we’ll give you a writing exercise that helps you create comedy based on your own experiences and history. You’ll also be required to attend at-least one open mic and perform each week. Stand-up comedians are not made in classrooms. They are made on-stage. If you are not willing to make this commitment, Level 2 is not for you. All Students who complete this course will write 8 minutes of original material that will be performed at the end of the class term in their Student Showcase at The ComedySportz Theatre – home of 100 Proof Comedy.
