What's Included

The Humboldt Park Neighborhood Choir rehearses twice weekly at Casa Central (1335 North California Avenue). Casa Central is now the largest Hispanic social service agency in Chicago providing programs for all ages. Since 2001, the Humboldt Park Neighborhood Choir has served boys and girls from the Humboldt Park, Bucktown, Wicker Park, Logan Square, West Town, Austin, Garfield Park, and other surrounding neighborhoods. Neighborhood Choir members audition as early as 3rd grade and many continue into high school. At the Neighborhood Choir level, boys and girls learn proper vocal technique, music reading and sight singing skills, as well as the discipline of singing with musicality, movement, and expression. Singers are offered numerous performance opportunities to exhibit the diverse repertoire reflecting the multicultural mission of Chicago Children’s Choir. Over the past several years, the Humboldt Park Neighborhood Choir has performed extensively in the community, including the Humboldt Park Peace Rally, Casa Central, caroling for the Wicker Park Chamber of Commerce and performing at St. Michael's Church with the Rogers Park Neighborhood Choir. Recent tours have included a collaboration with the Rogers Park Neighborhood Choir to Puerto Rico, and tours to Detroit, Michigan and the Bay Area in California.
