About This Activity

10K and 5K races, 5K fun run/walk and 1-Mile fun run/walk begin and end near the bottom of Cameron Hill Circle which leads to the new BCBST campus, Chattanooga, TN 37402. Both the 10K and 5K races are certified and will be scored electronically.

Non-Competitive Entry Fees

10K Fun Run or 5K Fun Run or Walk - Adults (age 12-59) $15, Seniors (60 & over) and Children (under 12) $9 by June 5. Adults $19, Seniors and Children $13 June 6 to June 15. Adults $25, Seniors and Children $19 Race Day, June 16. 1-Mile Fun Run or Walk - All ages $8 by June 5. $10 June 6 to Race Day June 16. Non-competitive participants will not be timed and will not be eligible for prize money, overall awards or age group awards.

Competitive Entry Fees

10K or 5K Race - Adults (age 12-59) $17, Seniors (60 & over) and Children (under 12) $11 by June 5. Adults $21, Seniors and Children $15 June 6 to June 15. Adults $27, Seniors and Children $21 Race Day, June 16.

10K Race Cash Awards

Cash awards for 10K - 1st place winners, male and female, will receive $100 cash awards, 1st place masters (40 & over) winners, male and female, will receive $50 cash awards and 1st place grandmasters (50 & over) winners, male and female, will receive $25 cash awards. All cash award winners will receive two (2) tickets to the June 16 Riverbend Festival. Cash awards will be presented at the Festival on June 16 in the evening. Winners must be present to receive cash awards.

10K Wheelchair Race Cash Award

Cash award for 10K Wheelchair Division - 1st place winner overall will receive a $100 cash awards. The cash award winner will receive two (2) tickets to the June 16 Riverbend Festival. Cash award will be presented at the Festival on June 16 in the evening. Winner must be present to receive cash award.

5K Race Cash Awards

Cash awards for 5K - 1st place winners, male and female, will receive $50 cash awards, 1st place masters (40 & over) winners, male and female, will receive $25 cash awards and 1st place grandmasters (50 & over) winners, male and female, will receive $15 cash awards. All cash award winners will receive two (2) tickets to the June 16 Riverbend Festival. Cash awards will be presented at the Festival on June 16 in the evening. 5K Wheelchair Race Cash Award

Cash award for 5K Wheelchair Division - 1st place winner overall will receive a $50 cash awards. The cash award winner will receive two (2) tickets to the June 16 Riverbend Festival. Cash award will be presented at the Festival on June 16 in the evening. Winner must be present to receive cash award

10K Age Group Awards

1st overall, 1st masters and 1st grandmasters, male and female. Three (3) age group awards, male and female, 18 & under, 19-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 & over.

5K Age Group Awards

1st overall, 1st masters and 1st grandmasters, male and female. Three (3) age group awards, male and female, 8 & under, 9-12, 13-18, 19-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 & over.

10K & 5K Wheelchair Division Awards

1st, 2nd and 3rd overall division awards. Wheelchair athletes are invited to participate in all BlueCross Riverbend Run & Walk events.

5K Fun Run & Walk

Same course as the 5K race. Participants will start behind racers. Participants are not eligible for cash prizes, overall awards or age group awards. A non-competitive event. Wheelchairs and strollers are encouraged.

1-Mile Fun Run & Walk

A non-competitive event. Wheelchairs and strollers are encouraged.

Riverbend Festival

The BlueCross Riverbend Run & Walk is held in conjunction with the Riverbend Festival. The festival is a nationally recognized 9-day event that features over 100 artists performing on 5 stages along the banks of the TN River. Some of the featured artists scheduled at this time include Lauren Alaina, Foreigner, The Band Perry, Chris Tomlin, Eric Church, Race night a gigantic fireworks display follows the entertainment. 10K & 5K Race Timing

Competitors will be issued electronic timing devices attached to the back of their race numbers at packet pickup. The assigned race number with timing device attached must be worn on the front of the participants shirt during the entire event. The race number with timing device attached must not be folded, torn or mutilated in any way. Runners who fail to wear their assigned number with timing device during the entire 10K or 5K race will not be eligible for any award.

5K Course

A scenic flat/rolling course that crosses the Tennessee River on both the Walnut Street and the Market Street Bridges in downtown Chattanooga.

10K Course

Utilizes the first two miles and last mile of the 5K course plus a tour of the Tennessee Riverwalk (moderately hilly).

1-Mile Course

An out and back course on the streets of downtown Chattanooga.

Door Prizes

There will be drawings for door prizes (must be present to win) during the awards ceremonies following the 5K and 10K races.

Early Packet Pickup

Race packet and purchased Riverbend pins (if applicable) pickup will be available at the BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee tent at the Riverbend Festival. The tent is located on the Chestnut Street side of the Tennessee Aquarium. Pickup will be from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. EDT Friday, June 8 through Friday, June 15 (the tent is closed Monday, June 11). The tent can be reached without going into the Riverbend Festival but must be approached from the Tennessee Aquarium side of the tent to do this.

Directions to Early Packet Pickup

From Nashville?take I-24 East to Hwy 27 North. /From Atlanta-take I-75 North to I-24 West. Follow Hwy 27 North. /From Knoxville-take I-75 South to I-24 West. Follow Hwy 27 North /From Hwy 27 North or South exit onto 4th Street. Park at nearest legal parking place. Walk on Broad St. north toward the river to the front of the Tennessee Aquarium. Turn left and walk down the sidewalk to the back of the BlueCross Riverbend Run & Walk tent.

Race Day Packet Registration, Pickup & Race Start

Race day packet pickup begins at 6:30 a.m. EDT at the BCBST Gateway Bldg. at the Corner of Gateway Ave and Cameron Hill Cir, Chattanooga TN, 37402. Race Start is on Cameron Hill Cir, just up from Gateway Ave. Parking area (see below) on 6th St. is one block from registration, pickup area and race start.

From Nashville-take I-24 East to Hwy 27 North. /From Atlanta-take I-75 North to I-24 West. Follow Hwy 27 North. /From Knoxville-take I-75 South to I-24 West. Follow Hwy 27 North. /From Hwy 27 North take exit 1A MLKing. Continue across MLKing onto Pine St. Continue on Pine crossing 6th St. into the "free" parking garage./From Hwy 27 South, take exit 1A onto MLKing Blvd. Turn left at light onto Pine St. Follow directions above. Physical address is 285 W 6th St, Chattanooga TN 37402.

Hotels

Hotels close to the race start include the Days Inn Rivergate, 901 Carter St, 423-266-7331; the Marriott at #2 Carter Plaza, 423-756-0002; and The Sheraton Read House, 827 Broad St, 423-266-4121. Hotels fill up quickly due to the Riverbend Festival. Please make your reservations early.
