About This Activity

This year';s event will include a 10K race/run, 5K race/run/walk and a 1-mile fun run/walk with wheelchair divisions at each event.


The 10K and 5K races are competitive running events with age/gender categories and awards for each. Non-competitive participants will not be timed and will not be eligible for prize money, overall awards or age group awards.


Cash Prizes:

1st place overall winners, male and female, will receive $100(10K), $50(5K)

1st place masters (40 & over) winners, male and female, will receive $50(10K), $25(5K)

1st place grandmasters (50 & over) winners, male and female, will receive $25(10K), $15(5K)

1st place overall wheelchair winner, will receive $100(10K), $50(5K)


All cash award winners will be presented their awards at the Festival on the evening of June 15. Along with their rewards the cash award winners will receive two (2) tickets to the June 15 Riverbend Festival. However, all winners must be present to receive cash awards.


Courses:

The 5K course is a scenic flat/rolling course that crosses the Tennessee River on both the Walnut Street and the Market Street Bridges in downtown Chattanooga. The 10K course utilizes the first two miles and last mile of the 5K course plus a tour of the Tennessee Riverwalk (moderately hilly). The one-mile course is an out & back course on the streets of downtown Chattanooga (relatively flat).


The BlueCross Riverbend Run & Walk is sponsored by BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, Powerade, Dasani, Coca Cola and Panera Bread as a part of the Riverbend Festival on June 15. The festival is a nationally recognized 9-day event that features over 100 artists performing on 5 stages along the banks of the TN River. Some of the featured artists scheduled at this time include Brandy, Dierks Bentley, Jake Owen, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Newsboys and on race night a gigantic fireworks display follows the entertainment.
