The event is open to the public and there were roughly 700 brave souls who took the challenge last year, and this year we plan on an even larger turnout! The Bulldog Challenge has grown into a nationally recognized event attracting competitors from all over the country.
In addition, the Bulldog Challenge is credited for raising thousands of dollars for national, local, and veteran charities. The 16th Annual Bulldog Challenge will be in honor of a fallen 2004 Citadel graduate, Captain Warren A. Frank (USMC). Proceeds from this year's race will go to fund the Captain Warren A. Frank Memorial Leadership Fund, designed to enhance the building blocks put in to place by the school in regards to leadership development and to provide our future leaders with the professional development they deserve. The money donated to the fund this year will be used to create a scholarship endowment for future Marine Officers at the Citadel. By participating in the Bulldog Challenge, you will be having a direct impact on the personal and professional development of some of the best leaders in the finest fighting force on the face of the planet!
In the past years, the proceeds from the Bulldog Challenge have been donated to scholarships established in the memory of Citadel Marines that gave their lives during Operation Iraqi Freedom, such as First Lieutenant Dan Malcolm, Second Lieutenant Almar Fitzgerald, Second Lieutenant Joshua Booth, and Lance Corporal Timothy Creager.
