Last year 276 runners and walkers registered for the event. Tyle Stelzig led all finishers through the course in 17:07. Natalie Bowman won the women?s title in 21:48.. The course records are held by Nicodemus Malakwen (15:17) and Sarah Volk (18:56).
The 5K will begin at 2:00 p.m. The 1-Mile Family Fun Run Walk will start at 3:30 p.m. WALKERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND. Both races start and finish by the Village Green in Southern Village. For directions to the race, go to mapquest.com and look for Market Street, Chapel Hill, NC 27516.
The 5K course is USAT&F-certified and all performances will count towards state records and national rankings. Splits will be called at the one-mile, half-way and two-mile marks. The entry fee for the Mile is $10. No official times will be recorded in the Mile, but participants will be able to see their finishing times on a large digital clock at the finish line.The entry fee for the featured 5K is $27 per individual if registration is completed or postmarked NLT November4th, and $30, thereafter. Official times will be taken using the MyLaps BibTag system.
In the 5K, awards will be presented at 3 pm to the first-place male and female finishers and to the first finisher in each of the following age groups: (both sexes) 12-under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60-over.
