The start/finish area for both races is located at Waverly Place in the Plaza behind Whole Foods located at 102 New Waverly Place in Cary. Most of the run will take place in the Lochmere sub-division.
Both races will start at 8 a.m. and both courses are USATF-certified.
The registration fee for either race is $15 before April 26, $20 (April 27-May 3), and $25 on race day. Entrants can also order a dri-wick technical t-shirt for $12 if their entry is received on or before April 17. A limited number of shirts will be available at packet pickup on the 2nd and on race day
Early Packet Pickup
Pre-registered runners can pick up their race packets and late registrants can enter either Thursday, May 2nd, at Inside Out Sports in Cary from 4-7 p.m. or on race day at the start/finish area beginning at 6"30 a.m. Inside Out Sports is located at 2002 Grisdale Lane in Cary. There will be a special drawing for a $50 gift certificate to Inside Out Sports for all those who either pick up their packets or register at the store Thursday night during the hours of packet pickup.
In each race awards from Inside Out Sports will be presented to the three men overall, the top three women overall, and the top three finishers in each of the following age divisions: (both sexes) 12-under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-59, and 60-over.
Second Empire Grand Prix
The Distance Festival 5K Run is also the ninth event in the ten-race Second Empire Spring 2013 Grand Prix Series.(No GP points will be awarded in the 10K). Runners who participate in these races accumulate points and are awarded money and prizes at an awards banquet held at the Second Empire Restaurant at the conclusion of the Series.
