WE WALK TO SAVE LIVES, TO HONOR LOVED ONES AND TO RAISE FUNDS TO HELP PREVENT SUICIDE… Suicide is a national health problem that takes an enormous toll on family, friends, co-workers, and the entire community. In the United States, a person dies by suicide every 13.7 minutes, claiming more than 38,000 lives each year. It is estimated that an attempt is made every minute; with close to one million people attempting suicide annually. Suicide is the tenth leading cause of death in the U.S., the third leading cause of death among those 15-24 years old, The second leading causing death among those 25-34 and college students, and individuals ages 65 and older account for 16 percent of all suicide deaths. This is a public health issue that does not discriminate by age, gender, ethnicity, or socio economic status.Event schedule and times
Late Registration: Oct. 26, 2013, 7:30 am - 9:00 am, @ Victoria Community Regional Park: If the race has started you may still register and run or walk to help prevent suicide. If you registered online please pick up your registration package and t-shirt at the event. Children 7 – 12 years old--Free. Make Your Steps Count! Lace up your sneakers and run or walk in support of Suicide Prevention.
