Parents have the option of hiring one of the Temple Solel Hebrew School teachers as a private tutor to fulfill their child’s Hebrew School requirement (instead of attending Hebrew School classes). The Religious and Hebrew School Directors encourage parents to enroll their children in Hebrew School classes rather than private tutoring because the students in classes benefit from instruction of a teacher teaching the whole group, interaction with other students, learning conversational Hebrew, and attending services held from 5:30-6:00pm each week. If parents choose private tutoring, the student will be guided through the Hebrew School requirements by the tutor - including the requirement to pass three Hebrew tests each year. The cost of private tutoring is $1300 for the year. The child will receive twenty-five 30-45-minutes tutor sessions (amount of time of each session to be determined by the tutor). The day (and time) of the tutoring sessions are chosen by the tutor and parents. If parents register for private tutoring, they pay $1300 for private tutoring, but do not pay the $680 Hebrew School fee. Parents need to call Hebrew School Director Linda Levine for names of Solel teacher/tutors if they choose the private tutoring option. Private tutor students are required to attend Religious School on Sundays in addition to private tutoring.
