The "About Boating Safely" course is an 8 hour (one day) boating safety course offered for students 12 years of age and older. Major topics include Introduction to Boating; Safe Boat Handling; Nagigation; Boating Problems; Trailoring; Storing and Protecting Your Boat; Hunting and Fishing, Waterskiing, and River Boating. Contents of the course are approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators and recognized by the U.S. Coast Gaurd. A Course Certificate is issued upon successful completion of the course, which may qualify the student for reduced insurance rates. Additionally, the certificate satisfies the state of Michigan requirement to legally operate a Personal Watercraft for those 14 years of age or older and those born after December 31, 1978.
Please note: Students under 18 years of age must be accomplied by an adult.
