What's Included

Deaf Youth Today (DYT) will be running a program for deaf and hard of hearing kids and their hearing siblings (Kindergarten to Grade 7) who have a parent/guardian attending the Oct 17th Parent workshop. For Parent Workshop information: www.chhaparents.com Drop off your kids at DYT while you enjoy the parent workshop! The kids will meet at Burnaby South and will travel on a chartered bus to The Great Escape in Langley (safe, secured indoor playground). The bus will leave at 10:00 am and return back to Burnaby South at 3:00 pm. DYT staff will make this a fun, safe event! We generally have a DYT staff ratio of 1 staff for four children. The DYT Fun Day will include deaf and hard of hearing staff, as well as sign language interpreters for children that aren’t familiar with ASL. Register at: www.chhaparents.com • Registration is limited and is based on a first come, first served basis. • Registration is only for deaf/hh children and their siblings who have a parent attending the Parent workshop. • An email will be sent to you before October 14th with a detailed schedule for the DYT Fun Day. If your deaf/hh child has additional special needs and requires extra support, please contact Scott@fndc.ca We have some funding and will try our very best to find a one-to-one worker, but we can’t always guarantee that we are able to find the appropriate support for every child. We appreciate your patience and understanding when working with us to find support. The parent workshop is organized by BC Hands & Voices, Canadian Hard of Hearing Association – Parents’ Branch and Family Network for Deaf Children

About This Organizer

Deaf Youth Today (DYT) is FNDC’s summer social/recreational program and is committed to providing recreational experience and leadership opportunities for deaf and hard of hearing youth in British Columbia that use sign language for all or part of their communication or who are interested in learning sign language.

Our primary focus is summer programs for deaf and h/h teens. During the school year, we focus mainly on leadership training for deaf teens or young deaf adults. Our goal is to train deaf youth to be in leadership roles during our summer programs.
