Lifeguard Certification Course

About This Activity

This course teaches lifeguard candidates the skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies.  The course content and activities prepare candidates to recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies, and prevent drowning and injuries. 
Prerequisites: Minimum age of 15; ability to swim 300 yards continuously, tread water for 2 minutes, retrieve a 10 lb. brick from the bottom of the pool. Students must be present at all classes in order to be eligible to pass the course. Students who successfully complete the course will be given Red Cross Certifications in Lifeguarding, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, and Standard First Aid.
