This October, what better way to celebrate the vibrant Appalachian autumn than along NOC's sometimes steep and always lovely single-track trail system. Competitors start at the Flint Ridge trailhead at the top of NOC's Wesser campus, run approximately 4.75 miles along trails, then cruise down the remaining .25 miles along the private road to finish riverside by the Nantahala. After the race, awards will be presented near Slow Joe's Café. Take part in the festivities all day as we celebrate the last day of NOCtoberfest! Events will include costume contests and The Great Pumpkin Pursuit, in which costumed NOCer's negotiate the Nantahala Falls while tossing over 400 pumpkins from their rafts. Paddlers and spectators compete to collect as many as possible to earn fabulous prizes, including a $500 gift card to NOC's Outfitter's Store. Later, enjoy live music and toast your back (or some marshmallows) around a bonfire if the weather gets chilly.
