Show your fall spirit and join the Junior Service League of Brooksville for a fun, family-oriented costume run--The Masquerade Mini Marathon. The Junior Service League, chartered in 1936, raises funds for women's and children's charities in Hernando County as well as funding community projects to benefit women and children like the recent addition to the Tom Varn playground.
Runners can choose a 10K, 5K, or 1 mile Fun Run along the gently sloping, shaded Good Neighbor Trail (asphalt). All runners are encouraged but not required to run in costume. Awards will be given for fast times and great costumes. Costume awards will be given for best individual, pair, and group costume (groups do not have to be running teams, but a group costume must involve at least 5 runners). Race-time awards will be given to the top male and female finishers in the following age divisions: 12 & under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60+. An award will also be given for the team with the fastest average finishing time. THE 5 & 10K EVENTS WILL BE COMPUTER SCORED USING DISPOSABLE CHIP TAGS WITH THE NEW ORBITER STS, THE LATEST MAT FREE TECHNOLOGY FOR SPORTS TIMING. The 1-mile event is self-timed with participation awards for all entrants.
A Pancake Breakfast will be available for $6.00 from 8 a.m.-11:30 a.m. for runners, spectators, and the public.
