HOLTE is a new acoustic project headed up by Red Hook Brooklyn-based visual artist Patricia Thornley and M. Shanghai's Austin Hughes, with Patty Hughes on bass. The group creates dark and shimmering Americana inspired by luminaries from The Everybody Fields to Sufjan Stevens. -------- “Beautiful arrangements, though one rarely stops to consider that these songs are made, they seem to pour out of someplace known but previously unmapped. Regional music of an unknown region, imagistic, deeply felt, arriving through the quiet fluorescence of pure natural voice. HOLTE pulls a drawbridge down between our alien familiar world and our nearly unreachable interior. The castle is conquered with whispers and strums.” Mark McElhatten – Walking Picture Palace ------ Hear new HOLTE songs, songs from the EP, songs premiered at the New York Film Festival, and the occasional sacrilegious cover. --------------------------- Jan Bell has engaged audiences from The Woody Guthrie Archives to the Waldorf Astoria; and tours both sides of the pond from Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival to Glastonbury - solo and with her band THE MAYBELLES.
