What's Included

Instructor: Isa Rodrigues, www.isarodigues.net Have you already taken Weaving 101 and want to know more? This intermediate course will focus on weaving theory and drafts. Students will go in depth with complex draft reading. Students should have enough knowledge of weaving that they can design their own weaving project with the help of their instructor using more complete weave structures. Pre-requisite: Weaving 101 or equivalent experience. -- Our classes are designed to focus on a learned skill rather than a final product. At TAC, our mission is to provide skills and knowledge for a lifetime! All materials for sample making and learning the technique are included. Any additional materials will need to be supplied by the student based on their vision. 4 week students have access to Open Studio time for free during the month of class and up to a week after the class, to put their new knowledge to practice.

About This Organizer

Textile Arts Center aspires to unify and empower the textile community, and advocate for the handmade.

Textile Arts Center (TAC) is a NYC-based resource facility dedicated to raising awareness and understanding of textiles through creative educational programs for children and adults. At TAC, we aspire to unify the textile community and advocate for the handmade by providing accessible, skills-based classes that reinvigorate engagement with traditional crafts. Techniques like weaving, sewing, and dyeing are practical, connective, and process-driven -- common denominators for designers, artists, and creative practitioners around the world. Because these activities are so widely used, they help to foster community and bring creativity back into our daily lives. They are part of our collective history and vital to our ongoing expressions of design, art, and culture.
