What's Included

Instructor: Victoria Manganiello In this class, students will learn how to design and hand weave their own trims, belts and straps using the Inkle Loom. Students curious about the basics of the woven structure will enjoy this warp-faced weaving process. Open to beginners or seasoned weavers curious about a new process, Inkle Weaving is a fun opportunity to explore new technique. Your instructor will also share some historical and contemporary uses of the Inkle Loom and assist with project planning. -- Our classes are designed to focus on a learned skill rather than a final product. At TAC, our mission is to provide skills and knowledge for a lifetime! All materials for sample making and learning the technique are included. Any additional materials will need to be supplied by the student based on their vision. Weekend Intensive students have access to Open Studio time for free for up to a week after the class, to put their new knowledge to practice.

About This Organizer

Textile Arts Center aspires to unify and empower the textile community, and advocate for the handmade.

Textile Arts Center (TAC) is a NYC-based resource facility dedicated to raising awareness and understanding of textiles through creative educational programs for children and adults. At TAC, we aspire to unify the textile community and advocate for the handmade by providing accessible, skills-based classes that reinvigorate engagement with traditional crafts. Techniques like weaving, sewing, and dyeing are practical, connective, and process-driven -- common denominators for designers, artists, and creative practitioners around the world. Because these activities are so widely used, they help to foster community and bring creativity back into our daily lives. They are part of our collective history and vital to our ongoing expressions of design, art, and culture.
