A really unique experience where runners will actually run half a mile out to sea along the Brixham Breakwater before heading up to the beautiful Berry Head Country Park with incredible views across the whole of Torbay. All monies raised from this event will go towards the amazing work the RNLI carry out rescuing people at sea. This run will act as the opening event for this years Torbay Lifeboat Seaside Special 2017.
Prizes will be awarded to the first 3 runners (first male, first female, first teenager 16-19) as well as every successful participant who completes the route will receive a medal & also be entered into a raffle for an amazing surprise. Also on completion runners can take the opportunity to get their very own personalised finisher's photograph on the Torbay Lifeboat.
Event details and schedule
The race control for any registration queries on the day willl be based by the Torbay Lifeboat Station, Berry Head Rd.
The race will start on the Marina car park & set out along the Brixham Breakwater running on the right hand side to Lighthouse 1 exactly half mile out to sea. On returning back to Breakwater beach runners will be signposted along Berry Head Rd past the hotel & up into the country park following the road up to the vistor car park. Runners will then veer left & head towards the Northern Fort that extends out to the point where Lighthouse 2 is reached. Make sure you take in the spectacular views across Torbay before venturing back down through the woods & up a short lane to the top of Victoria Hill. Runners then descend back down to Berry Head Rd & return back to the Breakwater carpark before embarking one final time along the breakwater to the lighthouse once again before finishing directly outside the Lifeboat Station & the Torbay Lifeboat. A total distance of 5 miles.
Race starts 9.00am Registration open at 8am to collect final race instructions & running numbers
Bags can be left at owners risk at the station house during the course of the run
