Beginner Karate is all about rule play and trusting that three basic rules will insure a safe martial arts experience! Children will learn the most basic dojo (training hall) etiquette: how to bow. This is the most fundamental gesture of respect in Asian culture. They will learn to listen with their eyes. Knowing how to pay attention will keep them aware and give them the ability to execute their skills when needed. Raising their hand to speak, or as we refer to it in class as the Statue of Liberty, gives them a lot of power and a voice in the class.
What is expected:
Parents are encouraged to work with their children on learning how to tie, becoming more physically active and articulating their needs. Ask your child what they learned today in class. They want your approval!
*This class will NOT meet on December 24, December 31, January 21 and February 18.*
