The 1st Annual Lightning Bolt will take place on January 12th, starting at the MBMS football stadium. It is a mostly flat course, with over 3/4 of the race on grass, with the rest on paved roads. The 1-mile fun run/walk will start at 4 p.m., and the 5K run will start at 4:30. Awards will be presented in the mile fun run/walk to the top three boys and girls age 14 and under. Awards in the 5K will be presented to the overall male and female winners as well as the top three finishers in age groups ranging from 10 and under through 55 and over. This inaugural event will benefit MBMS Athletics as well as this year's featured charity, Project Safe. This year's race is dedicated in memory of Lisa Anderson, a former MBMS teacher and coach. Mrs. Anderson's family selected Project Safe to receive no less than ten percent of the race's proceeds.
