The August intensive will differ from the July intensive by offering different specialty classes so that students who are interested in taking both weeks will benefit from a variety of information. This intensive is for students who are enthusiastic about ballet and seek a deeper understanding of ballet technique, history, body care, and variations. Each day will begin with an hour and a half technique class followed by a specialty class in which students will explore supporting ideas that pertain to ballet training. Specialty classes may include adagio movement, musicality, or turns technique. Students will have a daily stretch/yoga class that will focus on building strength and increasing flexibility. Following lunch, students will participate in a discussion and video series of ballet history and significant ballet works. In the final class of the day, students will learn a classical variation while incorporating performance skills. This intensive requires that students have had at least one year of ballet technique.
