Duke men's basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski picked up the 877th victory of his career Wednesday, moving him past former Kentucky coach Adolph Rupp into sole possession of third place on the all-time list.
Krzyzewski reached the milestone in Duke's 83-48 victory over Bradley on Wednesday at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, N.C. The victory improved the Blue Devils' record to 9-0 on the season. They are currently the No. 1-ranked team in NCAA Division I.
Coach K likely will keep moving right up the list. In second place is former North Carolina coach Dean Smith, who compiled 879 victories in his decorated career. Krzyzewski is just two behind.
The all-time leader is former Indiana and Texas Tech coach Bob Knight, who has 902 victories. Krzyzewski is 25 victories behind Knight.
Krzyzewski started his head coaching career in 1975 at Army, where he spent four seasons before being named head coach at Duke in 1980. Krzyzewski has led the Blue Devils to 10 Final Fours and four national championships (1991, 1992, 2001, 2010). He has won 804 games during his 30 years at Duke.
