Wiffle Ball

Our Wiffle Ball League is designed For 4 Year Olds To Learn A Little Bit About Baseball.

T-Ball

This is an entry division for 1st & 2nd year players (5-6 years old). The program emphasizes skill development in a non competitive environment, and sportsmanship over winning. Batters hit off a "Tee" and run the bases. The balls at this level are softer than in higher divisions. Everyone plays and no scores are kept. The rules are simplified to accommodate young beginner players. There are no tryouts. Players are randomly placed on teams. There may be 1 practice and there is 1 game per week.

Single A

The Single A division is for 7-8 years olds. A 6 year olds can tryout, but must have played 1 year of TBall. Emphasis is on the fundamentals of hitting, fielding, throwing and base running, as well as good sportsmanship. A pitching machines is used so that players can see a consistent pitch so kids can focus on learning the intricacies of hitting. Teams in Single A are formed by a "draft" system, with new teams formed from scratch every year. There is 1 or 2 practices and 1 game per week.

Minors

SMLLA offers a Minor League Baseball programs for boys and girls. Players may be 9-12 years old. This is a player pitch division. A player who is league age 8 for the current season and has played at least a year in "A" may try-out for the Minors division. 12 year olds may request play down in Minors only with the approval of the SMLLA Board and Little League Int'l, Inc., prior to the draft. Teams have 1-2 practices per week and 1 to 2 games per week.

PCL & Majors

Majors and Pacific Coast League (PCL) are the more competitive divisions within SMLLA and are geared toward boys and girls league age 9-12 who have demonstrated both the skill and interest in competing at a high level of play. 12-year-olds may participate in PCL if they elect to play down. 11-year-olds automatically get assigned to PCL unless they have been drafted onto a Majors team. 9- and 10-year-olds may be drafted into PCL. Teams have 1-2 practices per week and 1 to 2 games per week.
