Cougar Baseball Camp is sponsored by the South Orange Department of Recreation & Cultural Affairs under the direction of Coaches Joe Fischetti and Chris Henry. Coach Fischetti graduated from Columbia High School in 1989 after playing baseball for the Cougars. He attended Ocean County College and played for the nationally ranked Vikings and won the Region 19 Championship in 1990. Joe transferred to Kean University and graduated with a degree in Physical Education and Health. Joe coached the Columbia High School Freshman Baseball team from 2005-2012 and is now the Varsity team coach.
Chris Henry graduated from Seton Hall Prep in 1995, played at Union County College, served as an Assistant Coach at UCC 2005-2007 and is currently the Head Coach at Kushner Academy. The Cougar Baseball Camp, for children ages 7-14, will not only focus on the basic fundamentals of baseball, but instill the methods to improve and hone a player's skills. Each camper will be exposed to: - Proper mechanics of throwing a baseball - Defensive techniques - Fundamentals of the swing - Mental aspect of the game - Baserunning techniques - Pitching, catching and/or position player fundamentals -Sportsmanship and rules Each player is responsible for bringing a glove and bat. 3 one-week camps are offered:Week 1, July 8-12Week 2, July 15-19Week 3, July 22-26Fees:$300 per camper for one week$560 if registered for 2 weeks$800 if registered for 3 weeksComplete Camp details and registration information are available at The Baird and via the link below.
