Sarah Wassner Flynn

Active.com Contributing Writer

A longtime runner and triathlete, Sarah has blended her love for sports and writing into a freelance career.

After studying journalism at both Mount Saint Mary’s University (B.A.) and Johns Hopkins University (Masters of Arts), Sarah nabbed her first major gig in the endurance sports arena by covering the 2006 Triathlon World Championships in Lausanne, Switzerland for Inside Triathlon magazine. Since then, she's written countless profiles, race reports and service pieces, and has interviewed a range of athletes from Olympic gold medalists to celebrity runners for various outlets including Active.com, Competitor Magazine, Triathlete Magazine, espnW.com, USA Triathlon Magazine, New York Runner and many more.

When she’s not writing about races, Sarah's usually training or competing in one. She also writes nonfiction books and articles for kids and teens, like The National Geographic Kids National Park Guide U.S.A. and The Girl’s Life Guide to the Most Amazing You.

A mother of three (ages 5, 3, and 1) Sarah is passionate about inspiring and engaging the rapidly growing community of “Athlete Moms”—women who continue to go after big fitness goals while conquering the challenges of motherhood and pregnancy. You can follow her on Instagram (@athletemom).
