About This Organizer

Since being founded in 1951, AUSTIN YACHT CLUB is the place in Central Texas where members and guests can find a fun, uniquely Austin version of what a “Yacht Club” should be: A great community of sailing enthusiasts with excellence in sailing skills, racing, and training

AYC’s facilities offer our members fabulous access to the main basin of Lake Travis – on the +30 acre grounds, wet and dry slip storage, an inviting pool and a cozy clubhouse.

AYC’s programs and events include junior sail training for our youth and adult sail training led by a full-time Sailing Director. Camps and clinics offer a wide range of choices from Learn-To-Sail classes to Racing Seminars. Many of these programs are free or discounted for AYC members, and open to non-members. They typically are taught by members who have world class cruising and racing experience.

AYC’s annual racing calendar is full of choices and takes seriously our club tradition of being a year-round sport – starting with the first event, The Red Eye Regatta, held on January 1st. Whether it is the Friday Night Beer Can, Wednesday Night Laser/Sunfish, Regular Weekend Series or the annual Club Regatta’s – like Turnback Canyon or Governors Cup – everyone, from new racers to national champions, enjoys testing their sailing skill on beautiful Lake Travis.

Members of AYC are our biggest asset and have a long tradition of volunteerism – this spirit strengthens the sense of community and keeps our cost structure affordable. Whether it is a club work party or one of the Club’s numerous social gatherings – our members are always willing to pitch in to make sure all feel welcome and leave with great memories.
