Brief Description

A fun & competitive race along the Trinity Trail in Fort Worth. The course runs beside the Trinity River; is a relatively flat out-&-back. Participants can have fun running, walking, strolling… Net race proceeds to SafeHaven of Tarrant County & Girls, Inc. of Arlington, TX. Offline Fees

Mail-in fees are $8 if mailed by 5/28/08 (Forms may be obtained by e-mail by contacting jephaa@yahoo.com). Walk-in fees (through May 30) are $8 at The RUNNER, 3535 W. Pioneer Pkwy, Arlington TX 76013 (817-461-2281). Race day fees are $10. Plus toiletries and personal health care items on race day. NO T-SHIRTS! But a small, scholarly memento.

 

Directions, etc.

The course runs beside the Trinity River and is a relatively flat out-and-back. DIRECTIONS: From I-30, exit on University Dr. Go N on University Dr for about 0.2 mile. Turn RIGHT on Trinity Park Dr into the Park. Turn LEFT at the next intersection (Old University Dr). Try to park in the Kids’ Playground area and walk 0.2 mile to Trinity Park Art Pavilion #3 -The Pavilion also is near Crestline & Trinity Park Dr. The park roads are 1-way traffic so that one can only drive in 1 dirn. Beneficiary

Net proceeds will be given to SafeHaven of Tarrant County “with a mission to end family violence through safety, support, prevention and social change” and Girls, Inc. of Arlington, TX -– “inspiring all girls to be strong, smart and bold”. The donated toiletries and personal health care items go to SafeHaven of Tarrant County (formerly Women’s Shelter).

 

Purpose:

1. Offers unvarnished racing fun & competition. 2. Highlights a state of pervasive misogyny and sexism. 3. Provides some funds to some of the organizations which address the consequences of this attitude and which work to empower women and girls.

 

Awards

Awards will be given to 1st Overall male and female finishers, 1st Masters male and female finishers. Top 3 finishers in the following age/gender groups also will be awarded: 6 & Under, 7-8, 9-11, 12-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80 & Over.
