Pacific Sports, which has staged more than 500 events in the United States, isn't afraid to go off the beaten path, literally: A third of the company's nine offerings for 2002 are staged on scenic hills of the island of Catalina, California: the Buffalo Run, the Catalina Island Marathon and the SoCal season-closing Catalina Island Triathlon.
The City of Los Angeles Triathlon has been big hit for Pacific Sports, and is growing each year. The point-to-point race is a tour of Los Angeles from Venice to Dodger Stadium, and has drawn a field of top pros like Barb Lindquist and Chris McCormack.
